★Preface to the Fourth Edition

Diploma pharmacists in India have the responsibility of projecting the image of the profession in the society. The professional performance of such pharmacists depends to a great extent, on their knowledge of pharmaceutical jurisprudence. And in this context, the up-to-date knowledge of the laws governing pharmacy profession is vital.

The First Edition of Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence was published in 1996 followed by the Second Edition in 2003 and the Third Edition in 2011. All these editions have been greatly appreciated by the students and teachers. The two important legislations useful to pharmacists but not prescribed in the syllabus by the Pharmacy Council of India i.e. The Consumer Protection Act and The Right to Information Act were introduced in the Third Edition.

This Fourth Edition incorporates recent changes in relevant Acts and Rules. Recent amendments in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules like Schedule H1, the National List of Essential Medicines under the National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Policy- 2012 and Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 have been included white all chapters have been thoroughly revised.

Criticism and suggestions on this Fourth Edition of the book from any corner are welcome and shall be duly acknowledged by the author:
